Louis Joxe

Louis Joxe , born the September 16th 1901 with Borough-the-Queen, dead the April 6th 1991 with Paris, is a Politician French.

Biography

Incorporated history and of geography, it enters in 1932, after a short passage in teaching, the cabinet of Pierre Cot, secretary of foreign affairs and Minister for the Air. He is inspector of the foreign services of the Agence Havas in 1935. Revoked by the Vichy government in 1940, it teaches with the college of Algiers.

Charles de Gaulle appoints it general secretary of the French Comité of the national Release (1942-1944), general secretary of the Provisional government of the French Republic (1946), then it takes again to the diplomatic career with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs as managing director then ambassador (Moscow, Bonn); he becomes the general secretary (1956).

Raised with the dignity of ambassador of France in 1959, he is minister without interruption of July 1959 in May 1968 in the governments of Michel Debré and Georges Pompidou. Secretary of State near the First minister in charge for the public office from July 24th, 1959 to January 15th, 1960, it will have in load the State education (from January 15th to November 22nd, 1960), the Algerian Businesses (from November 22nd, 1960 to November 28th, 1962) - for this reason it carries out the negotiation with FLN (see Accords of Evian) and again concludes peace in Algeria then minister from State education by interim from October 15th to November 28th, 1962 after the resignation of Pierre Sudreau, the Administrative reform (from November 28th, 1962 to April 1st, 1967) and Justice (from April 6th, 1967 to May 31st, 1968). Deputy UDR of the Rhone of 1967 to 1977, it is then named member of the Constitutional council.

Louis Joxe is the father of the politician Pierre Joxe and the son-in-law of Daniel Halévy (see Descendance of Louis Breguet).
