Louis Ier de Thouars

Louis Ier of Thouars , it was born towards 1310 and it dies on April 7th 1370 with Talmont. It is the son of Jean Ier and White of the Brabant. He is lord of Talmont and lord of Mauléon and by his marriage with Jeanne II of Dreux, he becomes count de Dreux.

It succeeds his uncle Hugues II. Louis Ier was faithful to the King de France Philippe VI of Valois, it was used in the army of Philippe de Valois in quality of lord banneret of 1338 for 1341 and it takes part starting from 1338 in the fight against the King of England Edouard III. In the same way it is present at with dimensions of King Jean the Good at the time of the demolished of Poitiers on September 19th, 1356. By the Traité of Brétigny (May 8th, 1360) the Vicomté of Thouars passes under the English supervision and English Jean de Chandos takes possession of the city on November 3rd, 1361. The Viscountess Jeanne lends oath of fidelity to King d' Angleterre in 1363. Louis dies in Talmond on April 7th, 1370. It is his/her Peronnelle oldest daughter who is her heiress because its Jean sons died in 1355 and the second, Simon de Thouars, Count de Dreux died in 1365.

Marriages and children

In 1330, he marries in first weddings Jeanne de Dreux (girl of Jean de Dreux and Perronnelle de Sully and becomes because of his wife Count de Dreux. They had two wire and three girls:

  • Simon de Thouars count de Dreux († on July 12th, 1365 at the time of a tournament the day of its marriage, buried in the vault of A), married to Jeanne d' Artois (1353 † 1420),
  • Jean lord of the Chaize-the-Viscount and Mortagne (young death in 1355).
  • Silly goose of Thouars which married Amaury IV of Craon then Clément Rouault, which follows,
  • Isabeau de Thouars (wife of Guy de Nesle then of Ingelger I of Amboise and finally of Guillaume d' Harcourt),
  • Marguerite de Thouars which married in first weddings Thomas Seigneur of Chemillé and Mortagne then Guy Turpin Seigneur of Crissay in Touraine.

In July 1361, he married Isabeau d' Avaugour (girl of Henri IV of Avaugour and Jeanne d' Harcourt) widowed of Geoffroy VIII of Chateaubriant (1314-1347).
