Louis IV of Chiny

Louis IV of Chiny , known as the young person , probably dead with Cahors during the autumn 1226, was count de Chiny of 1189 with 1226. It was wire of Louis III, count de Chiny, and of Sophie.

It succeeded in 1189 his father died in crusade, but the supervision was ensured by his/her mother and her uncle Therry de Mellier because of its young age. Major in 1220, it probably took part in the Albigensian Crusade, where it died.

Marriage and children

He had married Mathilde d' Avesnes, girl of Jacques, lord of Avesnes and Cop, and Adele, lady of Own way, widow of Nicolas IV lord of Rumigny and sister of Gautier II of Avesnes, count de Blois and of Chartres and Bouchard d' Avesnes, ancestor of the counts de Hainaut. They had:
  • Jeanne (1205 † 1271), countess of Chiny, married to Arnoul IV (1210 † 1273), count de Looz
  • Agnes, lady of Givet and Abemont
  • Isabelle, married to Otton, lord of Trasegnies
