Louis II of Hesse

Louis II of Hesse-Darmstadt , (in German Ludwig II von Hessen-Darmstadt ), born the December 26th 1777 with Darmstadt, and dead the June 16th 1848 in Darmstadt, was Large-duke of Hesse of 1830 with 1848.

Family

Louis II is the son of Louis Ier de Hesse and of Louise de Hesse.

In 1808, it marries Wilhelmine de Bade (1788 - 1836).

It should be noted that the father of Alexandre de Hesse and Marie de Hesse was probably the baron Auguste von Senarcler de Grancy, the lover of Wilhelmine de Bade.

Biography

Louis II of Hesse belonged to the branch of Hesse-Darmstadt, this second branch is resulting from the first branch of the Maison of Hesse, itself resulting from the first branch of the House of the Brabant.

Louis II of Hesse-Darmstadt is the quintaïeul current “duke of Anjou”, claiming legitimist with the throne of France, Louis de Bourbon (1974-). Louis II of Hesse is also the ancestor of the tsarina Alix de Hesse and the Rhine, of the large-Duchess Elisabeth of Hesse-Darmstadt, of the prince Charles of Wales.
