Louis II of Bourbon
Louis II , born in 1337, died in Montlucon in 1410, was duke of Bourbon of 1356 with 1410 and count de Forez by marriage

It began its feats of arms by helping Rheims besieged by Edouard III of England in 1359. A little later it was one of the hostages delivered to the Court of England in exchange of the release of the king Jean II the Good, which had been made prisoner with Poitiers. It was released only in 1369, and assisted Charles V at the time of the reconquest of the territories conquered by the English. According to the instructions of the king and Bertrand of Guesclin, not to engage of battle, but to carry out a war of skirmish, it succeeds in taking about thirty fortified towns between 1369 and 1374, in the the Limousin, in Brittany and Guyenne.
A truce signed in 1374 between France and England enabled him to overcome bands of mercenaries in his county, then it left in Castille to fight the Moors, but the king Henri II of Trastamare wanting to benefit from the presence of the Crusaders to attack the Portugal, it refused to continue in the company and returned to France.
In 1378, Charles V sent it to fight Charles II the Bad in Normandy, where it took the majority of his fortified towns. After the death of Charles V, it belonged to the council of regency of Charles VI. It combatit still English in Guyenne in 1385. In 1390, it directed, at the request of the republic of Genoa forwarding against the kingdom of Tunisia which put the seat in front of Mahdia. It returned to France a little later but, in spite of its position with the council of regency, could not prevent the anarchy which settled because of the madness of Charles VI and the fights between Jean without Peur and Louis of Orleans.
He is regarded as the first founder of the State Bourbonnais, that which ensured its future power. ----
He married in 1371 Anne of Auvergne (1358 † 1417), countess of Drill, girl of Béraud II dolphin of Auvergne and Jeanne de Forez, and had:

- Louis, lord of Beaujeu (1388 † 1404)
