Louis II of Anjou

Louis II , titular king of Naples, count de Provence and duke of Anjou, was born with Toulouse in 1377.

He is proclaimed Louis II, king de Sicile in the cathedral of Bari in 1384. He is crowned king de Sicile in Avignon on November 1st 1389, in the presence of the king Charles VI of France.

The son of Louis I {{er}} of Naples and Marie of Blois-Châtillon obtains the tender of Provence only in 1387. He faces the divagations of the truck drivers, supports the pope of Avignon (1403) before adhering to the Soustraction obedience, then to ensure fugitive Benoît XIII a relative protection.

He makes several attempts, rather vain, to impose itself on his kingdom of Naples.
Count de Provence, it marries on December 2nd 1400 Yolande d' Aragon in the cathedral Saint-Trophime of Arles. His wife played thereafter a great part in the political entourage of her son-in-law Charles VII.

He dies in Angers on April 29th 1417. De Yolande d' Aragon, it had had:

  • Louis III (1403 † 1434) - duke of Anjou, king de Naples
  • Marie (1404 † 1463) - wife of the king de France Charles VII
  • (1406 †) - wife of a count de Genève
  • Rene (1408 † 1480) - duke of Anjou, duke of Bar, duke of Lorraine (by alliance), titular king of Sicily and Naples
  • Yolande (1412 † 1440), wife of François Ier, duke of Brittany
  • Charles (1414 † 1472), count of Maine (was never duke of Anjou, but his/her son was it).
