Louis Hjelmslev
Louis Hjelmslev (Copenhagen, October 3rd 1899 - idem, May 30th 1965), Danish linguist who prolonged the reflections of Ferdinand de Saussure by melting the Glossématique.
Indisputable Master of the linguistic Circle of Copenhagen, it is one of the pioneers of the Structuralisme and the founder of the Glossématique, theory linguistic of structuralist turning which carries to its ultimate consequences the postulates of the Cours of general linguistics of Ferdinand de Saussure.
Among its works it is advisable to quote: Principles of general grammar (1928), and Prolégomènes with a theory of the language (1943).
It founds in 1937 with Brondal the linguistic review Acte.
