Louis Hippolyte Bottle
Louis Hippolyte Bouteille is a ornithologist French, born the January 12th 1804 with Saint-Gilles-of-Gard and dead the August 19th 1881 with Grenoble.
Resulting from a modest family, it makes studies of Pharmacie to Avignon of 1820 with 1822, then with Geneva of 1822 with 1825 then with Lyon of 1825 with 1827. It settles with Grenoble in 1827 and, after having obtained its title of pharmacist to the Faculté of Montpellier, it opens a dispensary in Grenoble in 1833.
Impassioned Natural history for a long time, it devotes all its spare time to the Insecte S and especially to the Oiseau X. It makes appear in 1843 a Ornithologie of Dauphine, or Description of the birds observed in the departments of Isere, Drome, Hautes-Alpes… (two volumes). Neglecting its business, it must close shop when it obtains in 1847 the station of conservative of the Muséum of natural history of Grenoble to the detriment of Albin Crépu (1799-1859).
Bottle then supervises the construction of the Natural history museum in the Botanical garden and enriches the collections considerably. It founds the Company of acclimatization of the Alps as well as the zoological gardens of Grenoble in 1854. He is also the author of a Faune of Oisans published in the descriptive Essai of Oisans of Aristide Albert (1821-1903).
He is the first to have described the Perdrix rochassière, hybrid natural of red Perdrix and Bartavelle.
