Louis Brassart-Marriage

Originating in Arras (Pas-de-Calais) where it was born on December 27th, 1875, Louis Brassart-Marriage (1875 - 1933) is a famous Architecte with Saint-Quentin (Aisne) and its surroundings for its achievements, of which in particular: the school complex Marthe Lefèvre and the stores Devred and Bata. In the neighborhoods, one can quote his works with Remigny, Morcourt, Grugies, Gouy, Tugny-and-Bridge, Hinacourt, Ly-Fountain, Seboncourt, Sequehart for the churches, and in certain cases, the schools and the Town hall. He is also the author of the old people's home of Flavy-le-Martel.

Louis Brassart-Marriage remained in the commune of Remigny, street Bruyotte.

It should be stressed that the architect realized, right before 1914, a town-planning of Saint-Quentin of which all the points could not be carried out, in spite of the destruction, but which was extremely interesting. This plan was allowed in 1919 with the Living room of the French Artists and the National company of the Art schools.

Louis Brassart-Marriage fought with the Great War, the Military Cross and the military decoration was decreed to him. Former student of the school of the Tower, it had made his beginnings in the trade at Charles Chérier, architect in Saint-Quentin. He installed his cabinet there about 1901 (first mention in the directory of building SAGERET of 1902).

In the force of the age, Brassart-Marriage is deceased in Saint-Quentin on June 13rd, 1933. Its house, 1 rue de l' staff in Saint-Quentin always testifies to its talent.

Member of the Company of the Architects of Aisne as of the first years of the century, member to the Case of mutual defense of the Architects, he is allowed member of the Central Company in 1931, sign of his success and his membership on this date, with the established professional elite. The review Modern Construction of the 27.09.1925 (p.622) publishes in particular the " Devred store with St-Quentin".

In 1933 Louis Brassart-Marriage was: Officer of the State education, Member of the Central Company of the Architects, Honorary president of the Company of the Architects of Aisne, Member of the National company of the Architects of France, Member of the Company of Mutual Defense of the French Architects, President of Friendly of the Former students of the School Of the Tower, Member of the Advisory committee of the civil Building industries of Aisne, Member of the Medical Commission of the District of Saint-Quentin.

Foot-note bucket : Delaire, the architects pupils of the School of the Art schools , 2nd ED. 1907, p.195, confuses Louis Brassart-Marriage with Rene-Amédée Brassart, born in Moussy (the Marne) on March 13rd, 1878, raises workshop Scellier de Gisors then Defrasse, graduate in 1905, architect in Paris in 1906 and dead on April 7th, 1907 in the residence of his/her parents in the Marne.
