Louis Bréhier

Louis Bréhier , born with Brest the August 5th 1868, deceased with Rheims, 27, rue Ruinart- of-Brimont, the October 13rd 1951.

Louis Rene Bréhier, raises Charles Diehl and arts doctor, was professor with the Lycée of Rheims. Writer of art, it composed in Rheims his capital work Le Monde Byzantine , and was the author into 1916 of a work on the cathedral of Rheims. Member of the Institute, professor emeritus of the University of Clermont, officer of the Legion of honor and doctor honoris causa with Athens in 1937. Brother of the philosopher Emile Bréhier (1876-1952), it married Marthe Marguerite Emilie Lefebvre (1874-1944). He rests with Jonchery-sur-Vesle and his wife rests with Chamalières (Puy-de-Dôme).

Among the works published by the author with the editions Albin Michel (1946 & 1969), collection the evolution of humanity, let us quote: Le Monde Byzantine in three volumes, Life and died of Byzance , Institutions of the Byzantine Empire and Byzantine civilization , published between 1947 and 1950.
