Louis Alexandre de Battenberg

Louis Alexandre de Battenberg (May 24th 1854 - September 11th 1921), 1st marquis de Milford Haven, previously prince de Battenberg, was a German prince minor who married a grand-daughter of the queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, and continued a career distinguished in the Royal Navy, becoming one protected from its future king Edouard VII.

He was the son of Alexandre of Hesse-Darmstadt and Julie von Hauke, titrated princess of Battenberg. He married Victoria of Hesse-Darmstadt, grand-daughter of the queen Victoria and older sister of the tsarina Alexandra wife of Nicolas II.

From this union were born Alice de Battenberg (1885-1968), mother of Philip Mountbatten, Duc of Edinburgh, Louise de Battenberg (1889-1965) who married the King de Suède Gustave VI Adolphe, Georges Mountbatten (1896-1938) and Louis Mountbatten, 1st count Mountbatten of Burma.
