Louis-Trichardt
Louis Trichardt (temporarily called Makhado of June 2003 at March 2007) is a town of South Africa located in the province of the Limpopo at the north of the old man Transvaal, in edge of the country venda which rises to 800 m of altitude.
History
It was named in the honor of the Voortrekker Louis Trichardt. It is indeed located at the site where Makhado, a chief of the Vhavenda tribe, had conceded grounds to him to install its farm. City very afrikaner and preserving of the time of the Apartheid, the new municipality is dominated today by ANC even if the district constituting the historical heart of the city remains a preserving stronghold near to the official opposition of the democratic Alliance and extreme line of the Front of freedom.
Louis Trichardt or Makhado
In June 2003, at the same time as the other Louis Trichardt, provincial towns is renamed and takes the name of Makhado but this choice is disputed, not only by the white and the mediums of businesses but also by certain minority ethnicities. Thus an alliance made up of 51 organizations is formed to carry the business in front of the courts in order to require the return in the name of Louis Trichardt.In September 2005, the High court of Pretoria rejects in first authority the recourse of this alliance against the name change. Supreme Court of Call of Bloemfontein shift this judgment the March 29th 2007, cancelling the name change carried out in 2003 for a defect of procedure (insufficient consultation of the population of the city).

Local policy
At the time of the municipal elections of March 1st, 2006, the ANC obtained 79% of the votes of the residents of the municipality against 14% with democratic Alliance and 2% with the Parti Christian democrat African.
Tourism
Established in a zone where the Paludisme prevails, Louis Trichardt is located at the variation of the great tourist areas. Far from the criminality of the Gauteng, it however makes it possible to reach large natural parks easily to make excursions there.
