Louis-Rene of the Forests
Louis-Rene of the Forests is a French writer born in Paris in 1918 and died the December 30th 2000. Discrete author of a work not very abundant but largely with accompanying notes by the critic.
Biography
After a secondary schooling with Bourges, it follows studies of right and political sciences and starts to make appear musical and literary chronicles. It is at the end of the Thirties that it becomes acquainted with Jean de Frotté, who puts it in relation to Patrice of the Tower of the Pine, Michel of Boisberranger and Jean Chauvel. Mobilized in 1939, of return to him (in Berry) in 1940, it will engage in Resistance. Its literary beginnings date from the Occupation: between 1941 and 1943, he writes to the Beggars , published by Gallimard, which will be followed in 1946 of the Bavard , almost ignored of the public.He binds friendship with Raymond Queneau and André Frénaud. After one year of work with the young editor Robert Laffont, it is withdrawn in province. It publishes in some reviews: the Crossbow , new Letters , the New French Review . In 1953, it returns to Paris and takes part at Gallimard (of which he will be member of the reading panel of 1966 to 1983) in the design of “the Encyclopedia of the Pleiad”, with R. Queneau. It binds then friendship with Michel Gallimard, Robert Antelme, Georges Bataille and Maurice Blanchot.
It founds in 1954 the Committee against the war of Algeria, with Dionys Mascolo, Edgar Morin and Robert Antelme.
In 1960, it publishes the room of the children , price of Criticisms.
In 1967, it founds the review Transitory the , with Yves Bonnefoy, André of Bouchet, Paul Celan, Jacques Dupin, Michel Leiris and Gaetan Picon; it also makes appear in Mercure de France the Shrews of the sea . In the same editor will appear in 1997 his last work, Ostinato , fragmented autobiography whose drafting had been undertaken since 1975 and whose NRF , the Anger of the winds , Art Close , literary About fifteen and the Book the refuge had given successively, between 1984 and 1994, of the extracts and outlines. Several prices will be given to him in the years 1980: Maeterlinck price in Brussels (1988), national Grand Prix of the letters for the whole of its work (1991).
