Political life

Its first mandate lasts only four days, of the January 25th to the January 29th 1887. This mandate arrived at the end of the preserving government of its predecessor John Jones Ross, where it held the post of public prosecutor. It also directed the government to the legislative Assemblée because Ross could not sit there, being member of the Legislative council. Ross had lost the general elections of 1886, but had tried to cling to the capacity with a minority government for some month more.

Taillon is chief of the opposition of 1887 to 1890, when it loses the election of 1890 like his own seat.

It briefly turns over to the practice of the right, but after liberal the Prime Minister Honore Mercier was dislocated of his functions by the Lieutenant-governor of Quebec, Taillon becomes Minister without portfolio in the government of Charles-Eugene Boucher of Boucherville. As under John Jones Ross, it is with the head of the government to the legislative Parliament, because of Boucherville is member of the Legislative council. Taillon becomes Prime Minister when Boucher of Boucherville resigns.

He resigns in 1896 and makes the jump in federal policy to be used as a minister of the Stations in the very transitory preserving government as Charles Tupper, from May to July 1896. He does not manage to gain a seat with the House of Commons to the elections of 1896, and fails once again in 1900, putting thus fine at his political career. In 1916 it is made knight. He dies in Montreal in 1923.

The electoral constituency of Taillon, created in 1965, was named in its honor.
