Abbot Louis-Mathias de Barral , (April 26th 1746 - June 7th 1816)

It was bishop of Meaux in 1802, then Archevêque of Turns between 1805 and 1815, and declared outgoing by the Restauration.

It was one of the supports of the ecclesiastical policy of Napoleon.

What did it make before the revolution?

In 1787 " lord Louis-Mathias de Barral" was " prior commendataire of the priory simple and regular Holy Jean Baptist of Mougon, diocese of Poitiers" , while residing at Paris, " street of the Seine, hotel of Mirabeau, parish Holy Sulpice". By contract drawn up with Niort on September 29th, it appoints the sior Savin as farmer general of the priory, for an annual rent of 8173 pounds, payable in two terms with Paris, hotel of Mirabeau. (Three years later the sior Savin states to have poured in addition a bribe of 4800 pounds.) (Act preserved at a.D. of Two-Sevres.)
