Louis-Marie-François Tardy de Montravel

Louis-Marie-François Tardy de Montravel (1811 - October 4th, 1864) was a French naval officer.

Biography

In 1853 it belongs to the crew of the rear-admiral Febvrier-Despointes, who takes possession of the New Caledonia. After the departure of the rear-admiral, it manages this new colony. It founds Port-of-France, renamed in 1866 Noumea. A district of the city bears its name besides.

From 1859 to 1864 it was the 41e governor of the Guyana.

It finished its career with the rank of rear-admiral.
