Louis-Marie-Athanase de Loménie
Louis-Marie-Athanase de Loménie, count de Brienne (1730 - 1794) is a French officer and politician.
Biography
Of former family originating in the Limousin become at the XVIIème century the second house of Brienne, he is the puiné brother of Etienne-Charles de Loménie de Brienne, cardinal minister of Louis XVI. General lieutenant of the armies of the king, it had ordered the regiment Royal Artois of 1747 to 1762. Appointed Secretary of State to the War of 1787 to 1788, it is guillotine the 21 floréal An II (May 10th, 1794) with four other members of its family.
Marquis of Moÿ and lord of Vendeuil by his marriage with Etiennette Fizeaux de Clémont , girl of a rich person spinner of Saint-Quentin, it had rebuilt with ostentation the castle of Brienne and had bought in Paris the beautiful hotel of the street Saint-Dominique called since hotel of Brienne, current residence of the Minister for the Armies.
Athanase de Brienne and Etiennette Fizeaux had a son, François-Alexandre-Antoine de Loménie, Viscount of Brienne, chief of police of the 12th regiment of hunter with horse, guillotine the 21 floréal An II at the 36 years age. The widow of this last, Madam de Montbreton, died in 1851; the castle of Brienne was then sold with the princess of Bauffremont.
The portrait of Athanase de Brienne as a colonel of the regiment of Artois and that of Etiennette de Brienne by Carle van Loo remained at its heirs.
