Louis-Elisabeth of the Alder of Tressan

Louis-Elisabeth of the Alder, count de Tressan , born the November 4th 1705 with the Mans and dead the October 31st 1783 of a fall of car on the road of Saint-Leu-the-Forest, is a soldier, physicist and French, known writer mainly for its chivalrous Romance adaptations of of the Moyen-âge.

Its life and its work

At the 13 years age, he is companion of the young person Louis XV, then lieutenant-general and aide-de-camp of the king to the Bataille of Fontenoy. He is named governor of Toul and he is called by the king Stanislas at the court of Lunéville where he receives the title of large Maréchal.

First director of the Royal Company of Sciences and the Humanities of Nancy in 1751 and member of several other French Academies and foreign, it is elected member of French Academy and the Academy of Science in 1749 in 1780.

Friend of Voltaire and Buffon, it attends the living room of Mrs. de Tencin and composes several odes as of many adaptations of chivalrous novels which it translates and adapts of Spanish and the Former French and of which some will be several republished times. He is also the author of the one of the first French treaties on the electricity.
