Louis-Claude Daquin
Louis-Claude Daquin (or D' Aquin ) is a French type-setter (organist and Clavecin ist) born and died in Paris (July 4th 1694 - June 15th 1772), wire of Claude Daquin, middle-class man of Paris, and Anne Tiersant.
As before him Elisabeth Jacquet (her godmother) and Jean-François Dandrieu, Louis-Claude Daquin begins a career from child prodigy while being submitted to the court of Louis XIV, at the six years age.
He married in 1722 Denise-Therese Quirot, girl of clerks of the buildings. He was then organist of the king in the royal of Palate and ordinary vault of the music of prince de Conti.
He cumulated the prestigious titles: preferred Branch at the post of organist of the Saint-Paul church, it succeeds his former Master Louis Marchand in 1732 with the organ of the Cordeliers, with Jean-François Dandrieu in 1739 with the Royal Chapelle, then becomes titular organ of Notre-Dame in 1755 like successor of Guillaume-Antoine Calvière. Virtuoso dazzling with the keyboards, it is highly appreciated aristocracy and its play with the organ attracts considerable crowd.
Many vocal and instrumental works known by the documents of time are currently lost. Only reached us:
-
for the harpsichord (in 1735) a book of parts (in 4 continuations) which juxtaposes dance tunes in the great French tradition, of the “parts of character” in the manner of Couperin, of the imitative parts ( the cuckoo , winds in ire etc), or with program ( pleasures of hunting ) which call some sometimes with great difficulties of execution: those evoke the manner of Branch rather;
- for the organ a collection of Noëls varied (1757) which is led the most of this typically French kind.
- a cantata.
