Louis-Charles Delarageaz
Louis-Charles Delarageaz , of a former family of Préverenges, (August 10th 1837, Burrs - April 29th 1906, Préverenges) is the son of Louis-Henri Delarageaz (cf article) and of Louise-Charlotte Bron. He marries Julie Jaquiéry (1840-1900), girl of Jean-Louis Jaquiéry (1813-1863) of Prahins, Démoret and Moudon, brother of Constant Jaquiéry (1817-1902), prefect of Yverdon of 1868 to 1902 and colonel of police officers, ordering body of the police officer of Vaud, and Jenny Suzanne Bettens (1815-1896) of Yvonand, having a great agricultural domain in this commune.
Delarageaz obtains its diploma for the occupation of engineer in Lausanne in 1859 and becomes chief engineer of the building work of the railway line of Jougne, then of that of the Broye. It also deals with the Correction of water of the Jura.
Delarageaz begins its political career in 1868 like deputy of the Circle of Romainmôtier to the Grand the Council, then, in 1882, like deputy of the Circle of Ecublens. He is elected with the National council in 1893. He will remain there until his death. Delarageaz is radical, like his/her father. However, following the rupture of this last with Louis Ruchonnet, it becomes liberal and sits on the benches of the liberals with Bern. Very attached to its commune, he is the president of the General advice during many years.
The military career of Louis-Charles Delarageaz is also brilliant. Officer since 1857, it becomes ordering second Brigade of Artillerie of 1883 to 1895, date on which it is named chief of all the Artillerie of the first Army corps. In 1899, it leaves its function with thanks and becomes officer AD. The following year, the chief of the office of the state general major proposes the command of the territorial district to him No 2, but Delarageaz declines this proposal. He sees himself then entrusting the command of the place of mobilization of Morges by the government of Vaud in 1903, station which he will occupy until his death.
Delarageaz is, like his/her father, very near to the countryside and the agricultural mediums. Appear standard of the countryman, land great landowner, it devotes to dead of his/her father, since 1891, with the management of its great fields of Préverenges, Bremblens and Yvonand, this last pertaining to its wife. He is besides member of the committee of the Swiss Union of the peasants (1901-1906), the Company of Vaud of agriculture and vine growing and of the agricultural trade union of Morges. He also sits in the boards of directors of L `Union of Vaud of credit (1870-1872), of the Jura-Simplon (1896-1902), of the Switzerland-Western-Simplon (1872-1874, 1878-1884). He is vice-president of the board of directors of the agricultural Dairy and president of the General meeting of the shareholders of the cantonal Banque of Vaud. He is member named by the Council of State of the general advice of the Building and loan association of Vaud and he is named with a great number of commissions by the Federal court to negotiate through the French-speaking Switzerland the repurchase of railway lines deprived by the Confederation. Delarageaz is also one of the founding members of the company of students of Stella. He dies suddenly on April 29th, 1906 in his family property of Rionzi with Préverenges. He is buried with his wife in the family square of the cemetery of Préverenges.
