Lotus Requires

The Lotus Exige is a model derived from the Lotus Elects, studied for a more sporting use, in particular for a use on circuit. The car remains however approved to circulate on the road. This name was allotted to two generations of cars, designed on the same principle, starting from the two generations of Lotus Elects.

Lotus Requires S1

The Lotus Requires S1 derives from the Lotus Elects S1, and was produced between 2000 and 2002. The engine used is the 1,8 L Rover Série K, in a named prepared version VHPD (Very High Performance Derivative), approved for the road with 177 ch but available for the track with a kit 190 ch. Ce models was used for the homologation in FIA-GT of the Lotus Elects Motorsport. It lays out compared to Elects many aerodynamic modifications (body closed, spoiler before and back aileron) and on the frame (suspensions strengthened, special tires), intended to improve the performances on circuit.

Lotus Requires S2

The Lotus Requires S2 derives from the Lotus Elects S2, and more particularly of its version 111R. Elle is in production since 2004. Its concept is succeeded however initially less since the engine is taken again with identical since Elects. They are the 1,8 L VVTL-i from Toyota, which delivers 192 ch. Le frame on the other hand profits of the same type of attentions that for Requires S1, namely of the firmer suspensions, the lighter rims and the tires adapted to the circuit. Aerodynamics is also studied to support the support in turn and at high-speed.

In front of the contradictory requests of the customers, some claiming more comfort (what is offered in option on Requires series) and others a more radical vehicle, Lotus produced several radical derivatives: initially Cup Requires it, then several derivatives with compressed engine. The first was the Lotus Sport Requires 240R, a limited series having 240 ch. Ce kit was then proposed on Requires Cup, which becomes Exige Cup 240 then. Finally in 2006, Lotus presents the road version of series, with European homologation, of the Toyota engine compressed in the Exige S, which has 220 ch.
