Lothaire Ier
Lothaire Ier (795 - † September 29th 855), wire of Louis Ier known as '' the Piles '' and Ermengarde de Hesbaye, emperor of Occident (840 - 855). He marries Ermengarde, girl of the count de Tours, Hugues of Alsace, which gives him three wire.
History
Louis the Piles, which entrusts to him initially in 814 the government of the Bavaria, promulgates in 817 “Ordinatio imperii”, which associates it with the Empire and only heir declares it. His/her father being remarié with Judith, after the death of his first wife, it has with this one a son, Charles, future Charles the Bald person.Also recognized as king of the Francs, Lothaire Ier is sent in Italy where it takes in 820 the title of king of the Lombards and settles with Pavia. April 5th 823 in Rome, he is crowned Co-emperor by the pope Pascal I {{er}}, this one subjecting himself to his authority.
Lothaire Ier revolts against his/her Louis father the Piles which wants to make new provisions in favor of younger sound Charles wire. Lothaire involves his/her two brothers Louis Germanic the and Pépin I {{er}} of Aquitaine against their father, and the détrône by 2 times in 830 and 833, but twice he sees himself forced to return the crown to him.
Remained only emperor with died of Louis Débonnaire in 840, his/her two brothers, Louis the Germanic one and Charles, refuse to recognize it as emperor. Lothaire Ier then tries to invade their States but those league against him and, in June 841, beat it with Fontenay-in-Puisaye in the Resident of Auxerre. The February 14th 842, the two winners reinforce even their alliance by the Serments of Strasbourg; the following year, they impose the to him Traité of Verdun which enables him to preserve the imperial title, and grants to him a long field and narrow energy of the North Sea in the south of Rome.
Little time before dying in 855, Lothaire Ier abdicates to go to be locked up in the abbey of Prüm. Before dying there, it has care (Traité of Prüm) to share its empire: Louis receives the kingdom of Italy with the title of emperor, Charles Provence to Lyon and Lothaire II, the remainder i.e. all the northern part of the empire, of the Frise in Switzerland. This last field will be called the Lotharingie, name resulting from Latin Lotharii Regnum , the kingdom of Lothaire. At the end of its life it filled the abbeys of Murbach, of Lièpvre, Erstein, Saint-Etienne to Strasbourg and of Munster.
