See also: Batch
Loth or Batch (in Hebrew: לוט -; in Arab: لوط -) is a patriarch of the Bible. He is the nephew of Abraham.
He is also quoted by the Coran like Prophète. In classical Arabic, the name of Batch ( Lu ) by derivation gives liwat (لِواط) which indicates the Sodomie and the male Homosexualité.
In the Genesis
After having left Ur in company of Abraham, Loth arrives on the edges of the the Jordan. They separate: Abraham remains in the Pays of Canaan and Loth goes down with its herds towards the plain from the Jordan at the end of which Sodome is. During wars between local kinglets, Loth is made prisoner. Abraham comes to its help and brings back it to Sodome. God reveals in Abraham his decision to destroy Sodome and Gomorrhe which became places of perversion. Abraham then starts to intercede near God to avoid this destruction. Abraham approached and says: “Will you Also make perish the Juste with the malicious one? Perhaps there are fifty right in the city. Will you make them perish too? You at the city because of the fifty right ones will not forgive which is in the middle of it?.
The intercession stops on the many ten right to save Sodome of the destruction. Two angels arrive at Sodome, they are accommodated by Loth in its house. Sodomites, having heard of two foreigners recently made downtown, knock on the door of Loth to meet them with an aim of having sexual relationships with them. Loth protects the angels by proposing even his/her daughters in their place. Established with Sodome, Loth informs its people of the punishment which it incurs because of his practice of turpitudes and sodomy. Its people reject it and their city is destroyed. The angels involve Loth, his wife and her two daughters apart from the city before her destruction. They take refuge in the morning in a small town called Tsoar. The angels give the instruction not to be turned over towards Sodome at the time of the destruction of this city. In spite of this warning, the wife of Loth is turned over and is changed into salt statue. The two cities of the plain are destroyed. Loth and its daughters will take refuge in a cave of the mountain. The history of the woman of Loth, changed into salt statue to have looked at behind, evokes the saline blocks with the strange shapes of the edges of the Dead Sea.
After having fled Sodome, Loth is thus found only in a cave with his/her two daughters: The elder one said to young person: “Our father is old; and there is man in the region, to come towards us, according to the use of all the countries. Come, make drink wine with our father, and sleep with him, so that we preserve the race of our father”. They thus made drink wine with their father this night; and the elder one went to sleep with his/her father. He realized neither when it lay down, nor when it rose. The following day, the elder one called to young person: “Here, I laid down last night with my father; let us make still drink wine to him this night, and will sleep with him, so that we preserve the race of our father”.
They made still drink wine with their father this night; and the junior went to sleep with him. He realized neither when she lay down, nor when she rose. The two girls of Loth became pregnant of their father. The elder one gave birth to a son, whom it called of the name of Moab. It is the father of the Moabites, so far. Young person gave birth to also a son, whom it called of the name of Ben-Ammil. It is the father of the Am ites, so far.
