Lotf Ali Khan

Lotf Ali Khan (Persan: لتفعلىخان) was the last Shah of Iran of the Dynastie Zand (1769 - 1794).

Wire of Jafar Khan, it assembled on the throne in 1789. It dealt with Aga Mohammad Khan of the dynasty Qajar starting from 1792. It fought against this last with a small army, then it escaped to the town of Shiraz and ordered that the doors are closed.

Lotf Ali lost Shiraz when its chancellor, Haji Ibrahim, betrays it and opened the doors of the city to the enemy. Lotf Ali failed in his attempt to capture Shahr-e Babak and turned to the town of Kerman.

In 1793, it beat Qajars and in 1794, it took Kerman. But, without delaying, it was besieged in Kerman for 6 months by Aga Mohammad Khan. When the city fell to the hands from Aga Mohammad Khan, this one, taken anger because of the popular support made with Lotf Ali Khan, ordered that all the male inhabitants of the city are killed or plugged. A pile of 20.000 ocular spheres was then formed opposite Aga Mohammad Khan. The women and the children were sold as slaves and the city was destroyed in 90 days.

However, Lotf Ali was escaped seat; to be betrayed once again then captured close to Bam. Aga Mohammad Khan burst the eyes of its hands to him and made it put in prison at Teheran, where he was tortured with death.

Its tomb is in the Imamzadeh Zeid in the old man Bazaar of Teheran. Its portrait can be found with the Museum of beautiful arts in the Palais Sa' dabad.
