Losheim amndt See

Losheim amndt See ( all. amndt See = on-the-lake) is a common German of the district of Merzig-Wadern of approximately 16.700 inhabitants. The commune is attended by tourists because of the lake artficiel of Losheim.

Geography

The commune is located at the north of the the Saar, between Saarbrucken and Trier, and belonged to the natural parks of " Saar Hunsrück " and of " Schwarzwälder Hochwald ".

Districts of the commune

The 12 Ortsteile are called: Bachem, Bergen, Britten, Hausbach, Losheim, Mitlosheim, Niederlosheim, Rimlingen, Rissenthal, Scheiden, Wahlen and Waldhölzbach.

Access

The railway connecting Losheim to Mercy (=Merzig) and to Büschfeld having been transformed into a railway museum, the commune is only accessible by the road.

Losheim is crossed by the Bundesstrasse (federal road) B 268 (Trier - Saarbrucken). Because of the important traffic on the road of Mercy, a classification of the latter in Bundesstrasse is under discussion.
