Los Van Van
Los Van Van is a musical group of Cuba, created by the bass player Juan Formell in 1969, former member of the orchestra of Elio Reve, which will be joined by another member of this orchestra, Cesar " Pupy" Pedroso. " Changuito ", percussionist of the group, invented the rate/rhythm called Songo which will evolve to the Timba, which is the principal musical style that currently plays Los Van Van.
The Argentinian press called them the “Rolling Stones of the salsa”. They played with Rubén Blades with the Olympia (Paris) in 1972, taken part in the Playboy Jazz Festival in 1997 and 1998,
The basic structure of the group is that of the Charanga, but modernized with the addition of Trombone S, guitar and electric Basse, Synthétiseur and battery.
