Los Pirated

Los Piratas is an attraction of the park Belgian Bellewaerde of the type toilets-darkride , created in 1991, and inspired by famous the Pirates of the Caribbean of the parks Disney. Attraction is in the Mexico zone.

The topic

It is located in the Mexico zone of the park, in the center of Plazza Mexicaine, in a large building representing strong Spanish of the the Caribbean. This appearance is inspired by the place lodging the Pirates of the Caribbean to the Magic Kingdom. Large flibustiers is represented on the entry of attraction, evoking piracy. The history proceeds in several tables since the attack of the Spanish port by pirates, while passing by the excavations in the Maya temples, until the destruction of strong Spanish by the Mexicans, whose skeletons still narguent the visitors.

Course and scenes

Attraction has, as at Disneyland and because of the European bad weather, a rather long queue and glaze curving in attraction. Environment is dark there. The whole of the queue in the corridors of attraction, decorated tables representing of the pirates, is slightly inclined, which makes it possible to go to the quay located on the first floor. Moreover, lasting this latency one passes in front of explanatory tables of Dutch and French attraction.

Once sat in the boat, one passes in front of a first scene where several pirates take their meal, in strong Spanish with the dark red decoration. Then the boat leaves water, it goes up in fact on rails which will allow him course the descent which follows. This descent symbolizes a swirl tornado which devastates the village. Once the descent traversed in a cave, one arrives, with the hand-show of attraction located at the ground floor, the night under a thundery weather. It is about a village of the tropics where panic reigns. The inhabitants, try to save what it can and a war bursts between number of them. The priest sounds the bells to announce the drama.

Our boat arrives then in a temple at the Maya paces where many pirates plunder the treasures flee in many sarcophagi. At this point in time the spirit of the temple, symbolized by fire, rebel and of the phantoms appear to drive out the pirates and their data a correction. Techniques

In the scene or the phantoms of the pirates appear to give a correction to the plunderers of sarcophagi, the technique used is the same one as for the scene of the sal of ball of the Haunted Mansion/Phantom Manor in Disneyland, i.e. the technique known as of the gray phantoms (Pepper Ghost) invented for the needs for the cinema. At the top of this room, other audio-animatronics, the phantoms are placed as if they were in the room but in way symmetrical. Here they are audio-animatronics lit intermittently to simulate their appearance-disappearances. The image of the characters is considered on the glazed wall.

In the scene of the attack of the fort, the watery effects drawn by the gun are carried out with spots of light as well as compressed air.

The puppets of attraction are mouvent with a technology approaching that of the audio-animatronics Disney but without however equalizing it. The principle comes from animatronic, of the robots covered with a " peau" in order to give them an alive appearance, and ordered by different systems: cables, verrins or engines.
