History
" Gift Morin, old historian of the Gâtinais, wrote already in XVIe century " Lorré the Scrap-metal is the Villette and country cottage located in wood and it is a beautiful ground, remains pleasant and pleasant with the sight because of the fountains which stream of all côtés". Located in the green valley of the Lunain, affluent of the Loing, it kept today the rural and picturesque character of formerly.
One is thus explained very although a Roman colonist or gallo Roman, allured by the beauty of the site, established there a field which at the time, of the franque conquest, was reserved by the royal field. The field belonged to Laurus from where LOURIACUM " field of Laurus" at the origin undoubtedly of the current name.
In XIIe century, under the reign of Louis VI the Large, about 1131, Lorri super Lunan is surrounded by a strengthened enclosure comprising 13 turns and strengthened doors.
the One hundred year old war undoubtedly caused some damage with the fortifications since in 1542 François Ier an ordinance to rebuild the fortifications of Lorrez Bouschage took. These fortifications formed a square limited to north by the church and the south by Lunain. The curtain measured 0,75 m thickness and 3,30 m and 3,40 m height. The walls extended on a little more than one kilometer length and were bordered by some 10 m broad ditches and 3 m of depth. They were built out of hardcores and stones of size, out of limestone of Champigny.
At the XIXe century, when they were not any more any utility, the municipal council, in his deliberation of February 1883, decided on their alienation, except " the turret (Turn of the Mill) which deserves to be preserved and which will remain the property of the commune". The product of the sale was to be used for its repair.
The royal field appears to be deprived of part of its territory in favor of the founded abbey of St Florentin de Bonneval in IXe century by diocese of Chartres. This fact is proven since one knows two Charters (1160 and 1169) by which the king and the abbey make an act of " pariage".
That of 1160 by which King Louis VII known as the Young person grants to the inhabitants of Lorrez the charter known as " habits of Lorris". It can be regarded as the founding document of the city. Moreover today a street of Lorrez still bears the name of this king. This charter fixed the taxes, the conditions of freedom by abolishing the drudgeries and provided that justice would be returned by a representative of the king: the provost.
At that time, the inhabitants of Lorrez lived under good conditions.
Other kings appreciated the site and made stays with Lorrez: it is of Philippe Auguste, Saint Louis in 1256 and Philippe VI of Valois.
The following centuries did not inspire by writings. One however finds on March 1st, 1789 the registers of grievances which are besides establish by all the cities. The complaints are the same ones and always of topicality:
- Equality in front of the tax and its reduction
- Reduction in the court fees
- Freedom of movement of the goods and the food products
- Special Budget for poorest
- Rights to the care médicaux"

Tourist monuments and places
* The laundrette* Old fortifications
* The castle
* Cross of justice, known as " Percée" cross; (M.H.), XVIIe century.
" It is nicely drawn up with the crossroads of two old ways, one which leads of Lorrez to the hamlet of Large Creilly, the other which is divided into two directions towards Voulx and Géfontaine and which leaves the bottom of the Road of Lorrez in Boisroux, a little before the new house of the post office. Opening why? Perhaps this is because its base is elevated on four small squat columns which thus leave an openwork space between the body of the monument and the base. The effect is, in any case, astonishing when one places oneself in front of the unit and that one can contemplate through him the undulating space of the fields and wood to the horizon. With the junction of the two arms of the cross, a stone circle is carved in relief. We deciphered finger there the date of 1771. Cross of justice and procession, it goes back to 1615. It is out of sandstone of Seine-et-Marne and was restored in 1770 per Etienne Villard, mason stones with Préaux. It was also restored in 1981 by the AHVOL. It should be noted that the height where it is located balances exactly with that where still draw up the ruins of a tower of the ramparts of Prieuré."
