Youssef Gabriel Chahine (rear RTL يوسفجبريلشاهين) (born the January 25th 1926 with Alexandria) is a Réalisateur, Acteur, producing scenario writer and Egyptian of international reputation.

He begins his studies with the Saint-Marc college. He joined then The English College where he obtains his baccalaureat. At 21 years, it leaves its native Egypt to go to study the Cinéma in the surroundings of Los Angeles. With its return, three years later, the occasion is given to him, thanks to Alvise Orfanell, to carry out its first film, Papa Amine .

Frequently confronted with the censure, Youssef Chahine does not cease nevertheless denouncing the silly thing and the integrism, while multiplying the stylistics choices, of the melodrama sung ( I left your love with Farid El Atrache) with the historical reconstitution ( Adieu Bonaparte ) or with the autobiographical evocation ( Alexandria why ).
