Loriani

Geography

Loriani is a hamlet of the commune of Cambia which consists of several hamlets: Cambia, Corsoli/Corsuli, Loriani and San Quilico /San Chilicu

Loriani is located in the Pieve of Vallerustie, in the area of the Castagniccia to the foot of the San Petrone with approximately forty kilometers of Corte/Corti. There to go, take Main road 193, then the road of San Lorenzo/Sa Lurenzu (two kilometers before Francardu), to take on the left on the level of the bridge of Lanu.

History

The poet Paul Vincensini lived there. Part of its ashes are deposited in the family cemetery. Professor Paul VINCENSINI of which one of the colleges of Bastia bears the name was also originating in Loriani.

tourist places and event

Loriani is the village of Pace Maria, of her true name Jean Baptiste FALCONETTI, hero of resistance against the French invasion of 1768. It fought at Pascal Paoli with Ponte Novu, flees in Italy after the defeat of May 9th, 1769 then returned to try to raise the >Niolins against France. Captive fact, it was interned with the bagne of Toulon where it died in the middle of the rats and of French shame. There were other patriots originating in Loriani who fought at Babbu: the brothers BERNARDINI who were torture victims with the wheel, and Vincensini Don Gio which died in 20 years at the time of the battle of Novu Big shot
