Description

It is 30 cm long. Its plumage is of a conspicuous red, with black shoulders. The iris is red, the orange red nozzle and it has a spot violet behind the eye. The lower part of the wings is red, becoming yellow then black at the ends. It has a long tail. The two sexes are similar.

Distribution and habitat

It is endemic in Indonesia. One finds it in the forests and the coastal regions of the islands Biak, Numfor, Manim and Mios Num and in the Baie Cenderawasih in New Guinea
