Lorenzo Ricci

Lorenzo Ricci (* August 2nd, 1703 with Florence - † November 24th, 1775 with Rome) was a general of the Jésuites.
Biography
Born with Florence, he professed the Philosophie with His. He was then spiritual director with the seminar of Rome, then with the Roman CollègeHe became secretary of the Society of Jesus. May 21st, 1758, it becomes Supérieur General of his kind, at the moment when reiterated blows were carried to the Jesuits: Ricci could not deaden them and refused any concession. Pressed to change the statutes of the order to save it, it was satisfied, says one, to answer: Sint C sunt, aut not sint (“if they cannot exist such as they are, that they cease existing”).
The order was removed in 1773, and Ricci was locked up with the Château Saint-Angel, where he died.
