Lords of Parthenay
The Seigneurs of Parthenay call Parthenay the Archbishop starting from 1140, in remembering Joscelin II of Parthenay, archbishop of Bordeaux at the 11th century.
Armorial bearings
Blasonnement: burelé of money and azure, with the band of mouths stitching on the whole
Origins: These weapons are a crack of those of the Lusignan ( burelé of money and azure ).
They passed in the family of Parthenay through the women, certainly at the 11th century at the time of the marriage of Simon Ier with Mélisente de Lusignan, girl of Hugues V of Lusignan, or at the time of the marriage of Hugues II with Valence of Lusignan in 1247 (see genealogy of Lusignan).
