Lord Chancelier
The Lord Chancelier of Great Britain ( Lord High Chancellor off Great Britain or Lord Chancellor in English) is one most important senior officials of the government of the the United Kingdom. As a Large Officer of State, it is named by the British monarch on council of the Prime Minister. The habit wants that it is always a Lord, although there does not exist any legal obstacle with the designation of a commoner.
The responsibilities for the Lord Chancelier are vast: they include the presidency of the House of Lords, the participation in the ministerial cabinet and the supervision of the judicial Power. Criticisms concerning the extent of these capacities led the Prime Minister Tony Blair to propose the abolition of this function: a constitutional reform of 2005 results in to transfer a big part from being able to other institutional characters.
