Loppem
Loppem is a Belgian village located in Province of Flanders-Western. The locality is since 1977 a section of the commune of Zedelgem.
History
One finds already an old mention of the name Lophem in a Charte going back to 1108.In October 1918, during the release and shortly after the end of the First World War, the king Albert I {{er}} settled with the Château of Loppem. November 21st, 1918, the government of Loppem was made up there: the first government where the Socialists, the liberals and the catholics were plain in the same coalition.
During the countryside the eighteen day old (Second world war), the king Léopold III also resided at the castle (18 May 25th, 1940).
