Lopön Tenzin Namdak

Lopön Tenzin Namdak (Tibetan: སློབ ་ དཔོན ་ བསྟན ་ འཛིན ་ རྣམ ་ དག །, Wilie: Slob-dpon Bstan- 'dzin Rnam-dag ) is a religious leader Bön born in 1926.

Biography

Lopön Tenzin Namdak was born in 1926 in Khyungpo Karu in the Kham (the province is Tibet) in a family from famous artists. In 1933, at the 7 years age, it enters to the Monastère of Tingchen the same area. In 1941 Lopön Rinpoché went to Yungdrung Ling, then one of the two principal monasteries Bönpo of Tibet Central. With Yungdrunk Ling, Lopön Rinpoché helped to carry out a series of mural tables in a new temple. In 1944 Lopön Rinpoché went in Pilgrimage to the Nepal including Solu-Khombu, Pokhara, the Mustang and Katmandou.

In 1945, to 19 years, Lopön Rinpoché is turned over to Yungdrung Ling to begin studies of Philosophie (tsennyi; mtshan nyid). Between 1945 and 1950, it lived an existence of hermit, cloister with his professor and Maître Gangru Rinpoché with which it studied poetry (nyanga; snyan ngag ), cosmology (dzopu; mdzod phug ), grammar (da; will sgra ), the monastic discipline (dulwa; dul Ba ) and stages on the way of the awakening (salam; its lam ).

Lopön Rinpoché went to the Monastère of Menri (literally “the mountain of medicine”) in the Province of the U-Tsang in the Tibet Central in 1950 when, on instruction of Gangru Rinpoché, it began its studies towards the degree from Geshe (the Tibetan equivalent of Doctor of Philosophy) and reached it in 1953. Lopön Rinpoché became professor or teaching Master (Lopön) with the Monastère of Menri of 1953 with 1957. Lopön Rinpoché left Menri and its station in 1957 because of the increasing conflicts between the Chinese Tibetans and soldiers. In 1957 Lopön Rinpoché left Menri and the Tibet for the Monastère of Sezhig on the Lac of Dangra in the north of the U-Tsang where it remained in spiritual retirement until 1960.
