Longreach
Longreach is a Ville located in the Queensland Western exchange, in Australia, and is with approximately 700 kilometers of the coast, in the west of Rockhampton. The city is located on the Thomson River, and was published in the official journal in 1887. In 1892, the railway network reaches the city and the population started to develop.
The city is located on the Tropic of Capricorn, and the population of the county east of 4368 inhabitants at the time of the Recensement of 2001. Principal industries of the area are the breeding of cattle and sheep and, more recently, tourism. The city shelters the Longreach Pastoral College ( Pastoral Université of Longreach ), which prepares the students with work in agricultural industries, as well as the Longreach School off Distance Education ( École of remote Education of Longreach ), which provides by the radio of the lessons the distant students.
Longreach was one of the centers founders of the domestic and international airline company Australian Qantas. One of its hangars of origin remains of use with the airport of Longreach. The city shelters the Qantas Founders Outback Museum ( Continental Musée of the Founders of Qantas ), which includes among its exposed parts a Boeing 747 closed down, VH-EBQ, “The City off Bunbury”.
Longreach also shelters the Australian Stockmans Hall off Famed , which was officially open in 1988 by the Queen Elizabeth II. The goal of this center is to present the history and the culture of the Australian rural life. He saw passing nearly a million visitors since his opening.
A certain number of cities of Queensland have their streets named according to a topic. In the case of Longreach, the streets are named according to birds, the main street being called Eagle Street ( Rue of the Eagle ).
