Longmorn
Longmorn is a Distillerie of Whiskey of the Speyside located at Elgin in the Morayshire in Scotland
Distilling was creates in 1894 per John Duff at the same time as his close relation neighbor Benriach. Duff was very known in the small world of the whiskey: it had founded a score of years before Glenlossie distilling. Following its personal bankruptcy Duff sold at the end of the XIXe century all its properties. It is John Grant, owner of Glen Grant, which repurchases Longmorn.
In 1970, distilling amalgamates with Glen Grant and Glenlivet to train a giant of the Scotch whiskey, the group The Glenlivet Distillers Ltd. Passed between the hands of Seagram in 1977 it belongs today to Pernod Ricard through its subsidiary company “The Chivas and Glenlivet Group”.
During this long story, longmorn is one of rare distillings not to have never ceased producing alcohol.
Longmorn has 8 Alambic S (4 wash stills and 4 spirit stills) in the shape of large onions. It produces annually nearly 3.3 million liters of pure alcohol.
Distilling produces an individual malt ignored enough and yet of very great quality. This individual malt is marked by very fruity notes. It belongs to the official range “Heritage Collection”.
The major part of the production is intended for the blends like Something Special and Queen Anna .
