Longmont is a Ville located in the Comté of Boulder in Colorado. The name " Longmont" comes from the sight of Long Peak from the city. It is localized with the Northern - Is seat of the county of Boulder. Contrary to its more known neighbor, Longmont is much quieter and residential, although it started to develop quickly these last Année S, partly as a residential zone less expensive than Boulder but also near to Denver.

History

Longmont was founded in 1871 by a group of Chicangoans which had decided found new city in Colorado. In the beginning called the “ Chicago-Colorado Colony ” and referred like first community in the county of Boulder, the city was squared in miles pieces and started to open out as an agricultural community after the construction of the central line of Railroad of Colorado arrived at the north of Boulder in 1877. From 1940 Longmont started to develop beyond these limits of origin. In the years 1960 the federal Gouvernement built a center of ordering of air traffic downtown and IBM has batti large a Usine in the surroundings. The weakening of the Agriculture pushed companies of high Technologie to with it to be established (StorageTek, Seagate and Maxtor). The center town deserted during the years 1980, knew a renewal of popularity in the last decade and during the years 1990, the Southern of the city became pilot for a project of Urbanisme in Colorado, called “ Prospect New Town ”, designed by the Architecte famous Andres Duany.

According to the office of census of the the United States, the city has an entire surface of 56,5  km ², of which 56,4  km ² (21,8  semi ²) is grounds and 0,05  % of the Water.

With the census of 2000, it counted 71  093 inhabitants. The density of Population was of 1  259,7  hab. /km ² (3  262,3  hab. /mi ²).

The Middle Age of the inhabitants was 34 years. The population pyramid was established ainsi :
