Longjumeau
Longjumeau is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Longjumellois and Longjumelloises.
Geography
The commune is served (nevertheless remotely) by two stations of the line C of the RER: '' Longjumeau '' and '' Gravigny-Balizy ''.
History
- Longjumeau one of the oldest inhabited places of the valley of the Yvette, was located on the road from Paris in Orleans. Sarcophagi mérovingiens (IVe century) were discovered at the place of the current hospital.
Chilly-Mazarin will have the same lords as Longjumeau: initially, counts of Dreux. Louis IX allots the two villages to the dukes of Brittany. The grounds will pass to the house of Anjou.
In 1568, the March 23rd, the Paix of Longjumeau is signed between catholics and Protestants. She concludes the second war of religion française.
In 1596, Martin Ruzé, lord of Beaulieu, Secretary of State under Henri III, Henri IV and Louis XIII, becomes owner of the places. Not having a child, it decides to make of its great nephew, Antoine Coiffier d' Effiat, his heir and proceeds in 1609 to a substitution to its profit: Antoine d' Effiat will inherit the grounds Longjumeau and Chilly and will bear the name n the other hand and arm with Ruzé. Martin Ruzé reserves nevertheless the usufruct of the two seigniories and it is only in 1614, with its death, that its great nephew becomes the effective owner of Chilly and Longjumeau.
Antoine d' Effiat dies Marshal of France in 1632 after a brilliant career in the government of Richelieu and transmits his grounds to his Martin son then with his Antoine grandson. This one dies without posterity in 1719. Chilly and Longjumeau are then asserted by his/her cousin, Armand-Charles of the Door, sons of the marshal of Meilleraye and Marie Ruzé, girl of the marshal of Effiat. Armand-Charles had married Hortense Mancini, niece of Mazarin, and had been his heir, had titrated duke of Mazarin and Mayenne. Although according to the terms of the substitution of 1609, Longjumeau could be transmitted only by the males and would have thus to return to another branch of Ruzé, the influence of the duke of Mazarin was too dominating so that the heritage escaped to him.
Its grand-daughter marries in 1777, Grimaldi, prince de Monaco who will be count de Longjumeau. Current prince de Monaco, Albert II, carries among his many titles that of count de Longjumeau. Longjumeau was the first relay of diligence on the royal road. 30 to 40 inns accommodated the travellers. See the Op3era Comique, the Postilion of Lonjumeau of Adolphe Adam.
Longjumeau will benefit from the rural migration at the 19th century, but will miss the industrial turn by refusing the installation by the railroad; only the Ligne of Large Belt passes near the commune. To cure and make it possible it to transport the market-gardening people and especially the produced produced in the sector, a secondary railroad, the Arpajonnais served the commune of 1894 to 1937.
