Longchamp palate
The Palais Longchamp is a monument of Marseilles being located in the district of the Five Avenues.
It was built in 1862 by the architect Espérandieu. It is acted in fact of a water tower set up in order to celebrate the arrival of water of the Durance in the city, via the Canal of Marseilles.
The Longchamp Palate shelters two museums: the museum of the Art schools in its left wing and the natural history museum of natural history in its right wing. The gardens of the palate also accommodated until in 1987 a zoological garden.
