Long race

Says itself of an Engine spark-ignition whose Course (the displacement of the Piston) is higher than the Alésage (the diameter of the Cylindre).

An engine whose race and boring are of identical size is called Moteur square.

In opposition to the engine long race, an engine whose boring is higher than the race is called driving short race or Super square.

The engine with long race with the disadvantage of having a linear velocity of the Piston larger than a square or supercarré engine with equal mode, and thus adapts less better to the high modes, and thus to the high powers.

On the other hand, it fills well with low mode, and allows a control on the couple.

Historically, the engines were at the beginning with long race, and they are currently supercarrés.
