London Stock Exchange

The Bourse of London (in English, London Stock Exchange and shortened in the ) is a Stockmarket located at London. It is one of the largest stockmarkets of planet, offering the titles of several American and British companies.

History

Created in 1801, it is based on traditions born in 1697 when John Castaing, working in offices of Jonathan' S Coffee-House, off published a price list called The Course the Exchange and other things (that one can translate by “the course of the exchanges and other things”).

Strategic alliances

London Stock Exchange pushed back the attempt at takeover of NASDAQ in 2006, preferring to establish a partnership with Asia, where the growth is more considerable. London Stock Exchange is currently under discussion to collaborate with Singapore Exchange (SGX) - named like a major strategic partner in Asia - and envisages to invest massively in the share capital of SGX before the end 2007. Rumors would even affirm that Stock Exchange London east in preparation of launching a hostile tender offer on SGX.
