The Capucin domino ( Lonchura striata ) is a Estrildidae with the rather dull plumage.

Subspecies

The Capuchin domino is represented by seven subspecies of which the only differences are the variation of the intensity of the colors of the plumage. The four last also present long and frayed rectrices:
  • L.S. striata of the south of India and Ceylon;
  • L.S. fumigata of the Andaman Islands;
  • L.S. semistriata of the Nicobar Islands;
  • L.S. acuticauda of the north of India, of Nepal, of Pakistan and Thailand;
  • L.S. swinhoei of China;
  • L.S. subsquamicollis of Burma, of Malaysia, of Vietnam and Sumatra;
  • L.S. phaethontoptila of Taiwan.

Description

The plumage of the Capuchin domino comprises primarily various colors of brown energy of the chamois to brown carbonaceous. Only the belly shows a pale beach grisâtre.
