Logne (the Moselle)

Logne is an old commune of the Moselle. Zip code: 57.310. Castle and firm.

This place which is only one firm today was formerly a considerable parish on which depended Ay, Bousse and Blettange.

The hamlet of Logne currently forms part of the commune of Rurange-the-Thionville.

History

  • the second Roman way of Metz to Trier passed by Logne.
  • the July 21st 1578, Gaspard II of Heu besieges the Château with 25 men, they come to remove from night Mr. de Piral, lord and owner of Logne in his castle. The doors of the castle burn, of Piral close being suffocated by the smoke of a tower where it had been cut off goes to discretion. One took it along to the camp of the duke Casimir, wire of the Elector Palatine (the members of a league had promised with this prince the Three bishoprices). He is hung there by the feet and then garrotté during 17 days to make him abjure the Catholic religion, give up the oath which he lent to the king and reveal what he could know of the intentions of the royal army. He recovered his freedom only by paying 1300 ecus of ransom. According to the requests of the governor of Thionville, the city of Metz made him return freedom. This lord of agreement with that of Fontoy détroussait the passers by on the road of Metz to Thionville.
  • 1605 : Census of the seigniory of Logne: 2 Fires (families).
  • 1645 : Nicolas Utringer, alderman of Thionville, is lord of Logne.
  • 1668 : In March, Regnault Ottringer takes possession of the seigniory of Logne.
  • 1684 : The August 28th. Visit by the Archidiacre.
  • the cemetery which does not make that a half turn with approximately of the church is entirely ruined as well as the ossuary and the tower without bell, the house basic curiale reversed in roof. There are only 4 or 5 inhabitants with Logne. The sior Ottrigner lord of the place is perpetually drunk and adapted several tombs of the church.
  • the October 25th 1686: The house curiale entirely ruined as of the year 1636, the inhabitants cannot it restore, only the 3 poor manouvriers in Logne and the lord of the place which makes plowman.
  • 1698 : Not schoolmaster, the Presbytery repaired a little, with the expenses of the priest. He y' has 6 families with Logne.
  • the May 19th 1707: No bench, neither schoolmaster, nor matron, the church in ruin.
  • the September 4th 1710: The priest does not reside although he promised all to put in state, he did not do anything. A time should be given him, then to prohibit the church.
  • the October 11th 1718: All is in good state.
