Log Born

The Loch Born is a Lac of Scotland located in the Highlands, in the south-west of the town of Inverness and in the North-East of Fort Augustus.

Geography

From very lengthened form, it extends on 39 km; its width varies from 1,2 to 2 km and its maximum depth is of 249 Mr. With 56.4 km ², it is the second plus big lake of Scotland, after the Loch Lomond. Its water is used to produce electricity by a system of pumps and turbines.

The Log Born is located on the way of the channel calédonien which connects the east coast to the west coast of Scotland. Its point more in the south, close to Strong Augustus, makes it possible to see the only island of the Log, Cherry Island, created artificially with prehistory (what is called a Crannog ).

The ruins of the castle of Urquhart, on northern bank, count among the principal tourist sites of the area. A small museum at summer created with Drumnadrochit to present information concerning the monster of the Log Born.

The Log Born became celebrates following alleged appearances of a marine monster in its black and cold water, monster which was called Nessie (or sometimes Nessy ). According to the legend, it would be either about a Plésiosaure (large watery reptile of the Mesozoic ), or of a giant Silure, or even of a Alarming specter. The recent scientific exhibitions and the consents of mystifiers seriously seem to have started the credibility of its existence.
