Loctudy
Loctudy , ( Breton Loktudi in ) is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France.
This commune is located on the coast at the south-west of the department in the surroundings of the point of Penmarc' H .
The two communes bordering are Pont-l'Abbé ( Pont- “n-Abad ) and Plobannalec-Lesconil ( Pornaleg Leskon ). The commune of the Island-Tudy ( Enez Tudi ), old island become peninsula is in opposite, on the other side of the estuary. Loctudy belongs to the Pays Bigouden.
There is a census in progress: the population would be in rise and there would be more than 3659 people living the commune. The last census goes back to 1999.
The inhabitants of Loctudy are called Loctudistes.

Port
The port is located in the mouth of the river of Pont-l'Abbé and it is protected from the dominant winds of west.It is an artisanal fishing port very active, the seventh French port in volume of fishing (2003). Its speciality is the baptized crawfish " The young lady of Loctudy".
The marina exists since 1991 and was increased in 1998. Its capacity of reception is of 585 places on bridge and 76 on buoys.
It is the port more in the west of the southern part of Brittany. To pass on the west coast of the Finistere, the navigator must pass the point of Penmarc' H then the Raz of Center. The last port in the south of the Pointe of the Strong current is that of Audierne, while passing it one can reach Camaret-on-Sea or Douarnenez. While going along the coast towards the east one reaches Bénodet and Concarneau ( Konkerne ); while leaving to the south one approaches the islands of Glénan.
This port was the home port of the boat the Bugaled Breizh , boat which ran at sea in dramatic circumstances in January 2004.
Tourism
Tourism represents a strong economic activity and affirms its statute of Seaside resort.
Events
Between 1945 and 1960, after the destruction of Brest, the National school of foams and maistranciers were installed in the field of Dourdy on the river banks of Pont-l'Abbé. Some 8000 young people were trained there with the trades of the bridge.The nautical club annually organizes regattas of even world national level in center-board categories.
Characteristic
In this commune still some women live who carry the typical cap of the Pays Bigouden. This country, let us recall it, gathers three cantons: The Guilvinec, Pont-l'Abbé and Plogastel-Saint-Germain, i.e. a score of communes. They are these women whom one can see mediatized, wrongly or rightly, for various commercial products.This cap bigoudene is a traditional element which will be carried any more in the future years only by the dancers of folk group because no bigoudene carrying this cap regularly has less than 80 years.
