Local Television Dolbeau-Mistassini

History

The Local Television of Dolbeau-Mistassini is one of the pionnières of the kind in Canada. Like all Community televisions, it is in the constant search of funds and volunteers to invest and make it function. It with thus a history full with bounces, intersected with suspensions.

Television is born in 1970 under the name of TV-2. At the beginning, it is a group of organizers of the ONF which is occupied some. The equipment is then provided by the Regional School commission Louis-Hémon and the emissions are diffused on the waves of Channel 2.

To the summer 1972, the School commission recalls its equipment because it needs some for courses. Television must thus decrease its programming at 30 minutes of weekly emissions. After a certain time and a lack of funds to buy new equipment, the Télévision is seen in the obligation to close temporarily.

In 1978, the club " Jouvenceau" takes again the reins of local Television for a few years. It is difficult to find the voluntary ones to make it function, people blow themselves and Television closes once again.

It is in September 1991, under the name of Câble 2 Banks, that Television lives again. The team of the moment then promises programming of professional quality to us which will interest a broad crenel of the population. Following unverifiable circumstances, Television must once again cease its activities in 1995.

A new group of voluntary starts again Television in 1996, this time under the name of Société of Information Lake St-Jean. The emissions are diffused on channel 9. Since, the programming varies between 2 and 8 hours of original emissions per week. The financing is the largest headache of the administrators. The subsidies and projects of employment are the monetary independent sources. Besides we owe the purchase of our equipment with the subsidies that the Ministère of the Culture and the Communications granted to us.
