Livornese
The Libournais is an area of the Gironde (Guyenne of Gironde) located at the north of the the Dordogne and Gascogne. The principal city is Libourne.
Geography
The Livornese is surrounded by the Charente in North, the Périgord in the East, the Between-two-Seas in the South and the Blayais in the West.
Vine growing
The Livornese is a wine country of great importance, with in particular name Saint-Émilion and its satellites of which the Vignoble of Pomerol. Famous the Castle Pétrus of Pomerol, with the First Classified Great wines of St Emilion, are among the red wines with dimensions in the world.But the Livornese also knew to allure many people by more accessible wines, privileging the roundness in particular. The encépagement makes the good share with the Merlot and the Bouchet, being thus distinguished from the wines of the Bordelais (Médoc and Graves).
