Livio Vacchini

Livio Vacchini (Locarno, February 27th 1933 - Basle, April 2nd 2007) is a Architecte Suisse of the school tessinoise

Biography

Graduate with Polytechnic federal of Zurich in 1958. After a stay in Stockholm and Paris (of 1959 to 1961), in 1969 it opens its workshop of architecture to Locarno; between 1962 and 1971 he collaborates narrowly with Luigi Snozzi. Professor invited to Polytechnic federal of Zurich in 1976 and to the Faculty of architecture of Milan in 1982. From 1995 to 2001 it works in collaboration with Silvia Gmür, workshops in Basle and Locarno.

Vacchini was member of the Tendenza and was made known with an international level with the exposure Zurichoise the architecture of the rebellion . It militated with his colleagues Mario Botta, Aurelio Galfetti and Luigi Snozzi against the bad quality of the new buildings to the canton Tessin.

Documentary the Livio Vacchini. Salted polivalente di Losone of Adriano Kestenholz in 2001 obtained the “Grand Prix of the Quality of the image” to the International festival of film of art and teaching of Paris.

Its book " Capolavori, Chiefs-d'oeuvre" in October 2006 by the Editions of the Lintel was published; the Italian version is appeared in May 2007 with the editions Umberto Allemandi editore.
